Macleay Regional Co-operative Ltd elected directors take up their appointments at the Annual General Meeting, which is held towards the end of each year, and Directors present their reports at the end of the following year.

Co-operative Directors are responsible for the management of the affairs of the Co-operative .... they are the trustees of your business.

Their purpose is to ensure plans and objectives are challenging, affordable, achievable and completely within the Co-operative's purpose.. ie to the benefit of members.  In practice, a Director is obligated to :

• ensure financial and legal obligations are met;
• monitor management performance against increasingly demanding standards;
• contribute skills, experience and knowledge otherwise unavailable to management;
• be an active team player and be completely familiar with co-operative principles;
• and, ensure an effective two-way communication exists and is maintained with the membership.

Because the Macleay Regional Co-operative Ltd has always attracted wide communtiy support, its membership has come to represent a large cross-section of the consumer aspirations of our community.  Members therefore, should ensure their elected Directors are kept well-informed & responsive to their needs at all times.  Productive, two-way communication will assure both the membership and the community, of the maximum benefit from our Co-op.

Any active member, over the age of 21 can seek nomination for election to the Board.  Elections are conducted annually at our AGM.  (Refer rules: 12 - 12.2 and 43 - 47.4)
